Plant photos, bulk ID & sun plan
Auto-gather plant photos with on-device AI, identify many at once, and search your gallery privately. Plan sun and shade in your yard and keep a care diary—free with no ads.
Gather photos. Identify in bulk.
BotaniSense collects plant photos into one smart album, identifies what's in them, and lets you search privately on-device—then plan sun and shade online for your yard.
- Auto-gather: Pull plant photos into one place and identify species automatically.
- Bulk ID: Recognize many plants in a single photo; indoor or outdoor context.
- Natural-language gallery search with private, on-device AI.
Care guides you can verify
Instead of a single static blurb, BotaniSense uses AI with search grounding on the live web to gather plant-care information from reputable sources. We normalize it into the same clear format for every species—light and water scores, indoor/outdoor tips, toxicity, and difficulty—so you get broad coverage and readable answers.
- Search grounding: Finds up-to-date care advice from the live web, not stale copy baked into the app.
- Easy-read format: The same structured sections for every plant—scores, descriptions, and references you can open.
- Better name matching: Scientific names are resolved via GBIF taxonomy so guides match the right species across regions.
- Wikipedia and other references supplement photos and introductory context where helpful.
Plant Doctor and disease info are educational starting points—not professional advice.
Example layout — every species uses the same readable sections with linked references.
See sun and shade before you plant
Plan beds, pots, and patios with data—not guesswork. BotaniSense combines your coordinates, accurate sun paths, and surrounding 3D geometry to estimate direct light through the year.
How the simulation works
- 1. Sun path for your locationWe compute the sun's position across dates and times from your latitude and longitude using astronomical algorithms (SunCalc).
- 2. 3D surroundingsNearby buildings, terrain, and horizon obstructions are modeled with 3D map and elevation data (where available).
- 3. Shadow ray castingFor each map point and timestep we test whether the sun is visible or blocked—building seasonal insolation profiles you can compare.
Note: Weather, clouds, and seasonal leaf cover are not modeled yet—the analysis reflects geometry and sun path, not climate.
